A southern firm orders 500000 books from the Christian Bei reathing Society of Boston with 400000 standard copies and 10000 feather bound books. Printing began June 15 with five perfecting presses running 20 hours daily to complete by August. The run requires 325 tons of paper 40260 yards of cloth 39000 yards of head paper and 210000 yards of muslin for bindings. Palmer notes over 500000 sheets of gold for stamping and gilding add to the deluxe edition value about 12500 for the bindings.
