Walter Weeks funeral arrangements announced with services in the City cemetery. Active pallbearers include Jay Parrish and others as two uncles and several relatives are listed among survivors.
The Huraton County Professional Workers Council postpones its regular meeting fromThursday to the following Thursday as a two day holiday observance after the Japanese surrender. Chairman Rev Ralph Madson says all members are to attend at noon at the Detken Recreation Center Thursday August 23.

Lieut. (ig) A. Miller Skipper, of Columbia, assigned to Tacoma, Wash, to report aboard the aircraft carrier Palon as assistant supply officer after commissioning. He was at the U S Naval Aviation Supply Depot, Philadelphia, for 16 months. A brother, Lt. J. Skiper, is an apply officer at Little Creek, Va.

Extradition proceedings against Harry Pearson a former Dothan resident indicted for forgery were halted when he agreed to return to Houston County from Bainbridge Georgia to face the charge. He notified authorities he would waive extradition and was returned by Sheriff B G Farmer and Chief Deputy J T Casey. Pearson was named among indictments returned at the last session of the Houston County grand jury.
In New Orleans the District Coast Guard Officer announced that recruiting of Women's Reserve personnel has been halted pending War developments. Enlistments of Regular Coast Guardsmen from the seven year class will continue as before.
Funeral services for Oscar Foy Cason forty nine of Newton who died in a Camp Rucker hospital after a short illness were held this afternoon at Old Bethel Church with Rev Claxton officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery Headland Mortuary in charge. Surviving are his wife Cora Cason of Newton four sons Milton and Gilbert Cason Floyd and Otis Cason all of Newton four daughters Myrtle Grantham Columbus Ga Thelma Opal and Edna Cason all of Newton five brothers John Cason Andalusia Brannon Cason Panama City Allen Cason Round Lake Fla Doc Cason Enterprise and Ernest Cason Army two sisters Mrs Stella McGannie Chipley Fla and Mrs Bessie White Dothan route two
The public relations office at Napier Field reports promotions for two Houston County men. Corporal William H. Cutts, son of Mr and Mrs W M Cutts of 308 Appletree Street Dothan, is promoted to Sergeant. Pfe Robert S Woodham, son of S B Woodhayn of Cottonwood, is promoted to Corporal.
The Chinese Communist leaders signed by Chu Teh and Peng Teh-Huat formally reject Chiang Kai-shek's demand to quit the war and stay at current posts. They argue the order harms Chinese interests as Chiang awaits Mao Tse-tung for talks in Chungking.
At Foster and Newton streets a minor collision led to reckless driving charges for R. C. Moore and Harris Jarrett in Recorder's Court. No injuries were reported. Jarrett also faced a license violation. investigation by Lt. Strickland and Det. Herring noted the 1 p.m. crash.

Joan W Brabham of Enterprise has been advanced to Gunner's Mate at USS Naval Armed Guard Center New Orleans. He entered service January 1843 and served on ships guarding routes to ports in England Scotland Greece Yugoslavia Italy. Members of the Armaj Guard defended merchant ships against attacks.
