Revenue Board May Amend Walden Tax
The county Board of Revenue will consider amending the Walden Gasoline Tax law to exempt the one cent tax on fuels used for nonhighway purposes. Judge Sayea Poyner and a delegation of farmers say the change aims to prevent suits over refunds for nonhighway fuel sales. The measure would exempt diesel, tractor fuel, gas oil, and related oils sold or delivered to consumers with permits for nonhighway use. Houston County’s Walden Tax law takes effect May 1, 1936, and is already adopted in many counties.
