Religion Brings Wild Applause At Bolters Meeting
Atticus Mullin reports from Birmingham on Aug. 14 that the Tutwiler Hotel gathering of the Bolters erupted in the longest applause of the Alabama bolters meeting as Montgomery’s Rev. Bol Jones denounced Gov. Smith. Dr. Barton’s earlier attack drew cheers, while Jones attacked Smith as Mussolini’s ally and warned against foreign influence. Attendees included Dr. Jones of Montgomery and George Malone of Dothan, with Byrd Palmer’s absence noted but spirit pledged.
