Five Marianna members of the Junior Chamber of Commerce were placed on Florida State Chamber committees at the Key West conference. Sumners became chairman of the State Committee on Parades and Parks, Williams chaired Agriculture, Milton joined Awards, Rawls on Resolutions, Andrews on Public Safety, and Tilora on Aviation. MARIANNA Special Louie R. Sutton has been appointed building inspector at Florida Industrial School for Boys. He succeeds R. J. Russwell, who resigned from the Florida State Improvement Commission. Russwell will move to Mississippi to re-enter construction work after a tour of south Florida and Cuba with his wife.

Florida extension experts Dr. G J Blackmon and D E Timenons met in Marianna with Jackson County growers to discuss a proposed marketing agreement. The plan would bar shipments of substandard pecans outside a five state area and place pecan shipments under federal inspection if enacted. A referendum will mail ballots August 20 and vote August 30 to decide support for the agreement. The five state region includes Florida Georgia Alabama South Carolina and Mississippi.
