Three Men Drown After Boat Is Struck By Freighter

Three Bristol men, Robert Heatherington 35, George Vandine 32, and John Schudder 2, drowned in the Delaware River near Burlington when a motor boat without lights crossed the path of the freighter John W. Garrett from Trenton to Philadelphia. The freighter crew said the motor boat failed to show lights and veered into the steamship’s course.

Weethofen dies after gunshot wound and lockjaw

From Jackjaw a man named Weethofen died after a pistol wound to the left arm and subsequent lockjaw. Isaac White testified that he saw Weethofen shoot himself though Westhofen hinted at undisclosed motives two weeks earlier. Westhofen recovered from the wound but soon died in delirium.
