Speed Ball Tests Jet Plane Paint
In Cincinnati the University of Cincinnati runs tests with a small steel ball spinning at 1800 miles per hour to study paint adhesion for jet planes. Dr Walter Soller notes the ball reaches 2 400 000 rpm and continues spinning for over a month after stopping, due to low friction. Regular paint peels on supersonic jets disrupting airflow.

Corn per acre yields may set records, oats hay Irish potatoes and soybeans are up, cotton acreage highest since 1942, peanuts up 6 percent. sweet potatoes down to their smallest since 1940. Nationally the largest corn crop on record, near record wheat and rice, big feed grain and hay supplies, cotton acreage up 10 percent, and a strong fats and oils outlook are forecast, while sweet potatoes fall.
