Madrid man held for grand jury on counterfeit bill charges
J C Sims of Madrid was bound over to the U S grand jury with a $1000 bond after a preliminary hearing. He is charged with possessing a counterfeit five dollar bill passed at Dan Strickland store in Black Alabama. The note bore Lincoln’s image and secretary of the treasury’s name and used pencil ink and crayon to imitate currency.

Vessel to Carry Alabama Peanuts to New York from Panama City
Eighty tons of peanuts from Alabama will be loaded on the steam ship Ellenor after it arrives in Port Panama City on Friday. A thousand tons of kraft paper will also be taken aboard before the steamer sails Saturday for New York. Peanuts are arriving in large quantities from Alabama and shipments are expected to double in the coming weeks. This is a new commodity for Panama City and the shipments are handled for a New York steamship company with biweekly sailings to New York and Port Newark.

Fire destroys hangar and planes at Roosevelt Field
An explosion at Roosevelt Field on Long Island caused a hangar to burn, destroying one of seven hangars and 10 airplanes with losses of 185000 dollars.
