Some 200 women from around Alabama are expected to gather in Dothan for the thirty ninth annual Alabama Federation of Women's Clubs convention. Governor Graves and Representative Steagall attend, with programs on Alabama through the Nation's Eyes and talks by Alabama educators and politicians. The event runs Tuesday through Friday with receptions, entertainments, and an Auburn Glee Club quartet.

Mob of masked men free lynching claims in Florida
In Plant City area authorities say John Hedaz, suspect in a Plant City bombing, was seized by a mob of masked men as deputies escorted him to safety. Hodaz, handcuffed, was pressed by guns and hustled away before being believed killed. Deputies search for mob participants.

Man and son tragedy near Dothan on Cottonwood road
G. M. Woodham, 55, died at a local hospital from complications after a public safety incident on the Cottonwood highway two miles from Dothan. His 13 year old son, H. C. Woodham, surrendered and was released to his mother. Four Killed in Train Accidents in North Alabama
In Florence, Alabama, four people died in two train incidents. G. D. Wallace, 32, and R. H. Wallace, 37, Cherokee residents with families, were killed when freight cars became disconnected and ran over them as they rode to seek work in Bell Buchel, Tennessee. Charles Hacker Jr., son of Athens merchant C. D. Hacker, was found dead near Harris, Alabama, likely after falling from or attempting to board a train.

Mother Shoots Self At Home Near Dothan
Mrs. A. A. Rice 39 faced brain disorder treatment and shot herself with a front-lock shotgun in front of her three and ten year old daughters three miles from Dothan on the Cottonwand highway around 7 oclock. The children witnessed the tragedy and described her taking another shell and firing again before rushing for help. Coroner Arthur Lane ruled it a suicide the second such death in the area this week.
