Deposition of Abdul Hamid II Ends Decades of Rule in Turkey
The long reign of Abdul Hamid II ends as his own people impose constitutional government after a Young Turk backed revolt. The sultan faced military uprising in April and the seizure of control by the third army corps, with about 1000 casualties. Mehemmed Reschad Effendi, long kept in custody, gains greater liberty under the new regime.
