April 27 reported secretary of state Bryan said Huerta has not answered offers for peaceful negotiations. Huerta warned Mexico will defend rights and not be trampled by the United States. England France and Germany push for peace while governments remain hopeful despite Huerta’s stubborn stance.
Fragmented report describes Federals killed and twenty wounded while attempting to cross the Rio Grande into the United States to escape Constitutionalists. The clash occurred near Laredo Texas as evacuation of Nuevo Laredo followed a fire.
