Chief Nearing End Of Trail

Chief Bacon Rind, once ruler of the Osage and long time adviser to the wealthiest Indian band, is reported dying of cancer at his Pawhuska home. He stood six feet six inches, was 72, and remained erect and vigorous until recently. A friend of whites, he refused their dress and language, and was a distant relative of Vice President Curtis. Immensely wealthy, he spent summers in an old tepee.
