Gratitude To Roosevelt For Defense Message
The continental congress of the Daughters of the American Revolution adopted a resolution of thanks to President Roosevelt for inspiring support of detente and defense. Roosevelt said the United States will not boost armaments unless other nations take necessary steps. Congress regretted he could not address the session due to Louis Howe's death and backed the president and Congress for the defense program already law. In Washington, selection of Barkley and Robinson as permanent chairman of the Democratic national convention is expected. Farley will preside with speakers noting Barkley and Robinson have long been favored for key posts.
