Woman to Direct Rat Killing Drive Backed by Mayor
Miss Helen Caldwell of Huntington West Virginia will lead a ten day rat extermination campaign in Dothan business district starting tomorrow. City divided into sections with one person per building to monitor bait. Caldwell, with five years in the field and work in 44 states plus Cuba Mexico and Canada, uses barium carbonate bait mixed one to four with hamburger cheese and other foods. Bait is placed 16 feet apart and examined each morning. Freach Bull to be used nightly. warnings to keep poultry and pets away. Local health officials and trustees of county home and farm association to meet tonight to plan the campaign.

Dammerman remained hospitalized at noon. others were discharged. The driver blamed a failed steering gear that dropped loose and prevented stopping the bus.

A 13 year old Houston county boy said he shot his father after his elder brother and father beat his mother at their Cottonwood highway home. The youth claimed both men were drunk and that he acted to protect his mother. The father survived, the brother faced charges, and the boy remained in custody.

Negro Hurt In Fall From Moving Truck
Earl Smith, a negro, suffered a severe scalp wound when he fell from a moving log truck about four miles from Dothan on the Columbia highway around 10 oclock. The log chain broke, logs fell, striking Smith on the head above the right ear. He was brought to a local hospital but left after treatment.
