Eight students joined a weather and navigation session led by Lt Ed Gan and Warrant Officer Kre in a ship radio repair setting. They learned wind instruments, plotting, and radio operation as part of a hands on weather and navigation program.
The USO Club and USO Traveler's Aid at Dothan extend services for armed forces personnel. Staff arrange transport, housing guidance, and local information while offering showers, towels, shaving kits, recreation, dances, free movies, and special programs. Sleeping quarters include private homes and the Soldier's Tent.

The Dothan city elementary grades showed average attainment test scores higher than the National Norm. Tests covered reading English arithmetic and spelling across grades three to six, with English focusing on capitalization and usage, and reading on vocabulary and comprehension.
Slocomb High School seniors will present the annual three act farce For Pete's Sake by Jay Tobias Wednesday at 7 45 p m in the high school auditorium. Cast includes Ashley Smith Christine Brown Gerald Fondren Jeay Williams Hilda Rivens Helen Bell Heyward Butler Donald Peters Geervis White Earl En finger Myrus Belle Stokes Betty Gigsaendanner. A string band Wilburn Kelley Brewer Kirkland Sid Youngblood Glen Davis will entertain between acts.
Announcement said First Lieutenant Raymond C. Houghtby, husband of Betty Whatley of Dothan, received the Air Medal for combat missions over occupied Europe. War Department notified Mrs Houghtby April 8 that he had been missing in action since March 18. He piloted a Liberator bomber, graduated Mapler Field, wings earned last year, son of Mr and Mrs C. H. Houghtby of Shabbona, IL, overseas since September 1943.
Five young men were accepted last week for duty with the Navy. M F Ford chief recruiting specialist in Dothan announced today. The enlistees include Frank Estes Mansey Jr Enaula Charles Clyde Cunningham Dortmund Marlin Rex Howell Chancellor Morris Gilmore Chancellor and Alten Earl Feratin Eufaula.
The Montgomery District Office of Defense Transportation announced plans to form Transportation Advisory Committees to coordinate moving perishable and seasonal farm products in 1944. District manager M U Rast said committees will gather producers, haulers, dealers, and receivers to determine motor truck needs and coordinate with regional agencies. Counties in the district include Dale, Geneva, Henry, and Houston.
Pack 3 sponsored by the Finer Baptist Church meets Friday with Den 3 Chief in charge. An airplane contest was announced for the dens, and the den presenting the best model at the next meeting will receive an award.
Napier Field personnel raised a record $3,647 in a Red Cross drive last month, more than doubling the 1943 collection. Major Ray Hawley, field chairman, announced the totals with $600 from the Officers’ Club, $520 from the Cadet Club, and $50 from the NCO Club. Of the total, $750 will go to D. Halstead, chairman of the Red Cross.
The Dothan Exchange Club Teen age Club announces an Open House Friday April 7 from 3 pm to 11 30 pm with a sports program from 5 pm to 8 pm. Members and eligible youths from Dothan urged to attend with guest cards from the hostel. Regular hours are 3 to 6 30 pm on weekdays and 3 to 5 20 pm on Fridays and Saturdays. The club plans a teen membership system with a governing body tied to the Exchange Board of Control and school grades. Messages note limited space and guest admittance policies.
