Higher Mill Tax Going to People in Hamid States

Montgomery April 16 The Associated Press reports a proposed constitutional amendment allowing 16 towns in Alabama to levy a local mill tax to fund municipal services. Archie D Peters five year old son of Mr and Mrs M A Peters of Liocomb route two died after a hickory nut shell fragment lodged in his throat. He was brought to Dothan hospital for an operation to insert a feeding tube but died Wednesday night. He is survived by his parents and several brothers and sisters. Funeral was held at Panther Creek church with burial in the church cemetery.

County Line farmer John W. Thomas dies at 67

John W. Thomas, 67, a farmer from the County Line community, died at home Wednesday afternoon after several weeks of illness. Survived by two sons Jim and Wes, and four daughters Billie Griffin, Grady Brown, Rufus Gilmore, and Earl Brunson, plus grandchildren and great grandchildren. Funeral planned for 3 PM at Providence Church with Dr. M. D. Ogletree officiating. burial in Providence Church Cemetery, Searcy.
