Japan Blames U S Agitation for Excluding Goods
Tokyo reports a Foreign Office statement blaming United States commercial interests for pressuring Latin America to exclude Japanese products. It warns such moves would hurt American cotton sales to Japan, the United States’ largest raw cotton export market, and cites a rise in JapaneseBrazilian trade as a strategic aim. The note links Latin American treaty tensions and US Caribbean policy to declining Japan exports, while noting Japan’s total Latin American shipments in 1935 and contrasting them with earlier years.
