THIS CURIOUS WORLD SCALPING AND ROSES PERFUME
A historical vignette covers scalping among early settlers with a Sioux attack on Kent Cahone and companions near Sidney Leete, where Cahone endured eight arrow wounds without losing consciousness. It also notes that the perfume of a rose arises from within petal cells and that the scent evolved to attract pollinators, not for human use.

Cain' Understan' and the Bishop's Politics
A humorous note quotes Hambone J P Alley about Cain' understanding as the Bishop speaks on politics. Hambone mocks the Bishop's statements, claiming the Bishop isn’t aiming at him and uses dialect to punch through the commentary. The piece captures local voice with sharp social humor.
