Dr Bennett B Ross dean of the Alabama Polytechnic Institute College of Sciences Auburn died in Miami Florida. He served as Alabama state chemist since 1893 and was an associate member of the naval consulting board. Funeral plans not yet announced.

Woman shoots rival over husband in Dallas home incident

Mrs. H. E. Evans was jailed on a charge of probable fatal wounding of Bernice Burger, 18, who had been dropped at Evans' home by her husband. Burger said Evans fired after declaring she would kill her. Evans surrendered an hour later. she is the third wife of Evans and has three children.

Husband Jailed in Ax Slaying of Wife and Child

William R. Carver a former Philadelphia real estate man was jailed for questioning in the axe killings of his wife and two year old son in Sebring Florida. A coroner's jury blamed a yard boy Ben Whitehead for the murders and Carver killed Whitehead in what was ruled justifiable homicide. Carver had learned he was beneficiary of a $10 000 policy on Mrs Carver and authorities noted bloodlike stains on his golf trousers.

Warrant Issued in Carver Murder Case in Sebring

A warrant charging William R. Carver with the murder of his wife their young son and a servant was issued in Sebring before Judge Murray Whitehurst. The Highlands County grand jury is to convene to investigate the slayings as sheriff Oscar Wolff withheld who swore to the warrant. Justice A E Young ordered the coroner's jury convened later this afternoon per State's Attorney Grady Burton.

Flyers Leap to Death from Burning Plane in Tulsa Tragedy

Tulsa April 4 two student pilots Louis Crippin and Joe Bryant jumped from a flaming bi plane above a golf course. Bryant 28 from Claremore leaped at about 1000 feet. Crippin 27 dropped away at 300 feet. The craft later made a perfect three point landing before burning out. Bryant was a Washington University graduate.

The Alabama Supreme Court heard a brief filed by Forney Johnson Birmingham attorney for the state democratic committee supporting March 19 arguments challenging the committees barring of “boiters” from the party primary. Horace Wilkinson of Birmingham filed a supporting brief after appealing a Jefferson county ruling limiting public funds for the Democratic primary. Wilkinson argues a primary with differing candidate and voter qualifications is illegal. Wilkinson has ten days to answer before the court's final consideration.

Tomorrow Is Moving Day For The Eagle

Tomorrow is moving day for The Eagle as noon printing will be followed by moving three typesetting machines and other gear to the new North Oate Street plant. Workers will stay up all night Saturday and Sunday to publish on time Monday afternoon from the new building. The move marks the paper’s third relocation since 1910 and aims for permanent settlement with a modern 24 page rotary press replacing the old flat bed. The project costs about $60 000 and delays were caused by ore deliveries keeping occupancy from January start.
