MORRIE LANDSBERG reports from Guam that Allied air and sea forces pounded the Ryukyu Islands with a peak of fury as Tokyo warned of a massive invasion armada. Okinawa skies and artillery, coordinated by the U S Fifth Fleet under Adm Raymond A Spruance, ranged across the Ryukyu chain as Fleet Adm Chester W Nimitz announced intensified operations in two communiques.

A man identified as F. G. Tisdale was injured last night when a furniture truck he reportedly drove left the highway near City Cemetery and struck a cemetery driveway abutment. He was found semi conscious near the wreck and taken to a hospital. investigators had not confirmed if the truck overturned or the cause of the crash.
Dothan Ozark Defense Rent office director FP Z Doak said landlords renting former farm houses to farm workers must register the dwellings with the area office. He cited widespread practice in Howign Coffee and Dale counties and noted many landlords are unaware of the registration rule.
