Miraculous Escape After Cars Plunge Into Washout
Two cars plunged into a washout on the Bee Line Highway near Newton early Sunday morning. Five men and Mrs B C Harbin escaped, with Mrs Harbin seriously injured. The driver of the second car sped into the hole, fearing a holdup. The first sedan carried six men from Troy and the Ledger brothers. The Harbins were en route to Panama City. A missing signal light was blamed for the accident.

Myron Herrick Dies Envoy to Paris at 96
VP1 United States Ambassador Myron T. Herrick, famed for staying in Paris during the 1914 threat, died peacefully at 4 10 p m Yesterday at 96. He rose from Ohio farmer to governor and cabinet hopeful, later chosen as ambassador to France by two presidents. His death followed a heart attack after a day of activity and a long public vigil of service in Notre Dame and Foch funeral ceremonies. Smyrna Woman Dies Saturday Funeral Rites Held
Funeral services for Mrs. E G Miller 37 of Smyrna were held at Smyrna Church with Rev. Lamar Jones officiating. She died Saturday afternoon in a local hospital. She is survived by her husband her mother four sons one daughter seven brothers and three sisters. Interment followed in Smyrna cemetery. Fellows & Forrester in charge.

A car driven by J V Vickers plunged into 12 feet of water near Caryville trapping his three children Lillie Mae Viola and Luther all ages 5 7 and 11.
