The Illinois Health Facilities Planning Board staff finds the Medical Arts Clinic Ambulatory Surgery Center proposal in conformance. The $1,728,000 project would be built west of Dixon near Sauk Valley Community College, with two surgery rooms and a 5,800 square foot multi purpose area. Financing planned as 80 percent bank mortgage and 20 percent equity, to be repaid over 15 years.

Illinoisans swindled in gold scam probes rise
Edgar Springfield Illinois UPI reports hundreds of residents may have been bilked in fake gold investment schemes. At least 38 Illinoisans allegedly lost more than 500000 dollars as investigators probe six companies in California Nevada Oregon and Texas. Some victims were promised guaranteed high returns from a New Mexico mine and others were told a new technique could extract gold from dirt.

Cosmonauts land on third try in Soviet space drama
Vladmir Lyakhov and Abdol Ahad Mohamand, Afghan first in space, landed the Soyuz TM-5 96 miles from Dzheszkagan after three descent attempts ending a daylong orbital hold. Tass reported medals for courage and heroism, with Mohamand named Hero of the Soviet Union and Lyakhov awarded the Order of the October Revolution.
