Illinois farmers are advancing toward an early corn and soybean harvest aided by a week of good weather. Ninety percent of soybeans and eighty one percent of corn were harvested by Sunday, with statewide yields estimated at 70 bushels per acre for corn and 27 for soybeans. Winter wheat planting reached eighty two percent. Soil moisture deteriorated, with 82 percent short and 18 percent adequate, worst conditions in the northwest while the southwest and southeast reported better moisture.
