Dixon woman dies in Illinois Route 64 crash near Oregon

Karla Bally a 23 year old Dixon resident died early today in a head on collision with a westbound semi on Route 64 just east of Oregon Illinois Bally was returning from Chicago at about 530 am when her car crossed the center line and struck the truck The semi driver was uninjured and the crash remains under investigation Funeral arrangements are being made at Jones Funeral Home

Navy jets drop 12 live bombs near desert campers

Two A-6 or jets overshot targets during a training flight near Chocolate Mountain Impact Area north of the Mexican border. Twelve 500 pound bombs exploded in a dry wash injuring one camper and damaging a mobile home, while a brush fire scorched acres. The area hosts tents for holiday campers and endangered desert tortoise habitat. If pilots blamed, Navy may revoke wings.

No agreement yet in Amboy teachers talks

In Amboy no settlement was reached after a seven hour session at Amboy High School. About 40 teachers waited as the administration submitted a new proposal around 2 45 a m. A vote on the salary schedule will be held Wednesday morning, with additional contract points to discuss. A next meeting is set for Monday Nov 27 due to Thanksgiving holiday.
