Leffelman Appears in Lee County Court for Preliminary Hearing
Kenneth Leffelman, 59, Sublette area farmer, appeared in Lee County Circuit Court for a preliminary hearing on charges of selling equipment bought on contract without paying off the secured party. Bond forfeited after he failed to appear June 16, 1988. Judge Alan Cargerman reset the hearing for June 8 to allow time for an attorney. He is accused of selling a 1982 International Harvester 1480D combine with corn head and platform without loan payoff. Leffelman claimed he was living in his car and traveling Illinois, prompting concern over his failure to appear. He previously spent over two months in Bureau County Jail for contempt of court related to missing farm items.
