Pierce jury set to deliberate
A Stephenson County jury of 11 men and one woman prepared to begin deliberations on the murder case of Calvin Pierce. Closing arguments by Dan Fish and Al Williams and final instructions from Judge Tomas Magdich preceded the deliberations after testimony from Pierce, his lover Kathy Bennett, and the victim Carrie Duncan. Duncan, 80, was found beaten and stabbed 11 times in a farm field southwest of Paw Paw on November 2. Pierce testified in his own defense as the trial neared its end.
