Leaded gas fades from Illinois pumps amid bans and aging engines
In Illinois regular leaded gasoline disappears as newer cars and lawn mowers reduce demand. The EPA cut lead limits from 1.1 to 0.5 to 0.1 grams per gallon by 1986, pushing stations to phase out regular. Some pre 1973 engines may still require leaded fuel, with substitutes and new valves available but costly. check manuals or with dealers.
