Senate panel kills F-14D and backs B-2 fly-before-you-buy
The Senate Armed Services Committee voted to cancel the Navy F-14D Tomcat, endorsed a fly-before-you-buy approach for the B-2 bomber, and gave only a brief reprieve to the V-22 Osprey as part of the 1990 defense budget. The panel cut SDI funding, set production constraints on the B-2, and supported continuing V-22 research with possible later authorization.

Judge rejects merger block in Time Warner case
Time Inc won a major Delaware court round in its 14 billion merger with Warner Communications but a flurry of filings left the case in limbo. Chancellor Allen rejected Paramount’s bid to block the deal and then stayed his own order awaiting Delaware Supreme Court review. The judge kept Time management in control while Paramount argues shareholders deserve a vote.
