Manning Electric wins Del Monte building bid in Rochelle
In a Rochelle City Council and Flagg Township vote Manning Electric Company of Rochelle secured the 17,000 square foot Del Monte building and adjoining land for 20,600 dollars. The winning bid beat a joint park district plan backed by Arne Tikkala, which proposed transferring the property to the district and then to Tikkala for development and a golf range. Gary Ellett also bid 20,000 dollars. The building, donated to the city and township, was appraised at 300,000 dollars and has tax dues.

Nurses and KSB settle breach of contract suit
Lee County Circuit Court Judge Tomas Magdich approved an out of court settlement between KSB Hospital and 19 nurses who sued after 28 nurses were dismissed in June 1985 during a hospital reorganization. The 1985 terminations were said to reflect department mergers rather than a traditional layoff, and none of the 19 were rehired. The suit, led by Carol O'Dell and others, claimed seniority principles from a 1982 agreement guided layoff decisions.
