Rochelle cyclist dies after Route 251 collision
Rochelle man Michael J. Koebler aged 25 died after his motorbike collided with a northbound semi near Hillcrest on Illinois Route 251. The crash occurred at 6 45 p m Wednesday, Koebler was flown to St Anthony Medical Center and pronounced dead at 8 00 a m today. James Justice Jr 25 of Hartford Alabama drove the semi and was uninjured. both vehicles sustained over 250 in damage. Further ISP investigation is pending.

Farm fall kills girl on rural Kings farm
Six year old Kathryn Milligan died after falling from a tractor driven by her father Malcolm on a rural Kings farm at 457 South Church Road. The rear wheel ran over her as Malcolm slowed to mow a waterway. She was taken to Rochelle Community Hospital by ambulance. Lyons Cluts-Limes Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

North begs leniency to end Iran Contra trial nightmare
Former National Security Council aide North asked for a maximum lenient sentence after a three month trial in which he faced up to 10 years in prison and a 750000 dollar fine for aiding obstruction of Congress destroying official documents and accepting an illegal gift. Dixon policeman sued for $7 million in federal suit
John Lightner of Dixon has filed a $1 million federal suit alleging Dixon Police Lt. Larry Hagen falsified reports and testified to a grand jury to retaliate against him for constitutionally protected comments about police agencies after a 1981 FBI operation. Lightner, indicted in 1985 and dismissed in 1987, seeks $500,000 in actual damages and $500,000 in punitive damages.
