The National Safety Council in Chicago estimates up to 350 people could die in traffic accidents during the four day New Year weekend. It also forecasts 12 000 to 16 000 disabling injuries with alcohol a factor in over half of fatalities.
The Telegraph selects The Associated Press replacing United Press International as its news service.
