Hospital honors dying wish of pregnant mom
In New York a hospital honored the Jehovah’s Witness mother Lysa Biffle as she refused a blood transfusion and underwent a Caesarean to save her baby after a Christmas Eve shooting near South Jamaica Houses. A 6 pound 7 ounce boy was born shortly after 1:09 a.m. but Biffle died at 2:55 p.m. The hospital said the transfusion refusal was respected, and doctors did not believe transfusions would have saved her. Investigators described the shooting as a drug turf incident on 160th Street.
