City to accept Collier Hotel donation and pursue demolition
Rochelle officials expect a deal to transfer the dilapidated Collier Hotel to the city after five area taxing bodies waive back taxes. Realtor Del Patzner, owner, plans to donate the three story structure on North Main Street and the adjacent lot. Demolition costs are estimated at 25 000 to 40 000 dollars with a lien foreclose to obtain title and sale of the property. Approximately 14 000 dollars in unpaid taxes may not be recouped. Mayor Gail Loefgren notes demolition could proceed by year end under Hub City Urban Renewal funds and does not foresee a money making venture for the city.
