Illinois peace group blasts Bush actions
Citizens for Peace in Central America criticized President Bush for invading Panama in 1990 to install a friendly Panama Canal administrator. The group accused U.S. actions of plotting Noriega’s death to shield CIA drug connections, while Bush framed the move as protecting U.S. citizens and bringing Noriega to justice. The group noted multiple past U.S. troop landings in Panama since 1904.
