The Chicago Bears played a gutsy Monday night game but again lost to the Minnesota Vikings. The loss affects Bears effort to prevent the NFC Central champion from gaining home-field advantage in the NFC playoffs while the Packers again stood between Minnesota and that edge.

Polo finished with 10 three-pointers to surge from a 19-16 first quarter deficit to a 37-29 halftime lead and 52-47 after three. Dusty Bowen 13 and Lonny Davison 9 aided the Marcos 6-5 record. Polo advances to a semifinal vs Orangeville Wednesday at 6 45 am.
Amboy defeats Franklin Center 55-41 and Rochelle beats Rock Falls 61-55 in the first round of the 17th Annual Amboy Holiday Tournament. Defense wins as Franklin Center struggles, while Amboy and Rochelle move toward the final round unbeaten.
Rochelle High School girls basketball extended its win streak to 11 with a 65-43 victory over Batavia in the Rochelle Tournament opener. Caryn Brune scored 30 and Sheri Frakes 19 as Rochelle, now 11-1, set a 19-8 first-quarter pace and led 36-20 at halftime.
Dixon High School forward Drew Schilling, the team’s leading scorer and rebounder, is suspended for one game for violating the athletic code. The 6-foot-4 senior averages 13.2 points and 6.5 rebounds, sitting out the DeKalb Holiday Tournament opener versus Bolingbrook.
