May Mart closures rise as Small Fry Shop exits Rochelle
Rochelle pact faces ongoing exits as Geneva Brune announces the Small Fry Shop and Shoe Bizz will close by end January 1989. Center vacancies persist with 50 000 square feet open. Receivership and Eagle Food Store lease issues add to the downturn while new regional growth and civic projects may eventually revive the May Mart. Brune plans to resign as Rochelle Area Chamber of Commerce executive after the closures.
