Bomb blast hits Colombia police headquarters in Bogota
A truck loaded with about half a ton of dynamite exploded outside the Administrative Security Department building in Bogota, killing at least 31 and wounding more than 100. The blast damaged 20 vehicles, created a 45 foot crater, and knocked out area telephone service amid a wave of cartel violence tied to extradition battles. Police said four suspects were in custody. no group claimed responsibility.

Brothers exchange same birthday card for 50 years
Two brothers long apart by miles have exchanged the same birthday card for fifty years. For 35 years the card has crossed the country twice yearly, visiting Italy and back during the 1940s while one served with the 88th Infantry, and traveling to London and Israel as well. Joe Zippin of Schenectady recalls a deep devotion, while Calvin Zippin, an epidemiology professor at UC San Francisco, calls it a religious affair.
