SVCC opens hallways to area fitness buffs
Sauk Valley Community College invites locals to walk at Sauk using indoor and outdoor routes. Indoors a one third mile circuit on the first floor operates 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. weekdays and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Fridays with the campus closed weekends in summer and between Christmas and New Year. Outdoor paths total 14 miles around the campus, along the river, with access to tennis, soccer, and baseball facilities when weather allows. No charge to participate, inspired by a senior citizen idea.

Rochelle officer Rangel to go home early for Christmas
ROCHELLE Illinois State Trooper Jose Rangel who was wounded in November will return home soon from St Anthony Medical Center. A limousine service may transport him from the hospital to his Monroe Center residence for discharge. He faces a planned fourth surgery after Christmas and hopes to return to work next spring.
