Dixon Faces Fire Loss Hit At Grand Detour Plant
The Grand Detour Plow Manufacturing Company in Dixon suffered a devastating fire on a large stone building home to 125 to 100 workers. The blaze started in the north end and spread through the blacksmith shop foundry and paint shop, with damage estimated between 50 000 and 100 000 dollars. The company plans to rebuild and resume by July, while questions mount about water supply and city fire protection.
