Democrats Regain Sheriff and Offices in 1888 County

In the 1888 Mendocino County election the Democrats regain the sheriff, assembly, and district attorney positions lost in 1886. Standley, Seawell, and White win key posts amid sharp primaries, while Republicans secure several district seats but lose the top offices. Seawell rises as a leading figure, and party campaigning shifts from a direct primary to conventions depending on majority status.
