W Metcalf and RE Fritz of the University of California report a second growth redwood forest in Mendocino County fifty years old containing over 100000 board feet per acre as of July 1921. They note California redwoods surpass many eastern forests in density on good bottom land, while ordinary soil yields are lower. Measurements on other areas are underway by Donald Bruce.
