Bernhard Undergoes Appendicitis Operation in Hamburg

The merchants division of the Canton Chamber of Commerce met at the Palace hotel with Forrest Hughes presiding. Five year old Gordon Gielow, long ill after brain tumor removal and pneumonia, is now at Stanford Lane hospital in San Francisco with measles. Parents Otto and Mrs. Gielow say his condition is about the same, but he can eat by mouth without a feeding tube for the first time in weeks.

Lombardo Broggi Talmage Rancher Dies at 75
Lombardo Broggi a Talmage rancher and vine yardist for over 30 years died at his home Wednesday evening aged 75. He was a native of Italy and had lived in California 40 years. He is survived by two nephews Dominico and Archie Broggs of Ukiah and two cousins Mijas Catherine Gobb of Ukiah and Mrs A H Sampson of San Francisco. Rosary will be held Friday at Cleland Schamber funeral home and burial in the family Catholic cemetery follows Saturday morning services at the Catholic church.

Officer Hamilton To Leave Hospital
Officer Fred Hamilton will be transported Friday from San Jose to his home in Willits by ambulance. He sustained both legs broken when his patrol car collided with a San Jose taxi in November and has been in O'Conner hospital. Doctors cast his legs this week and it will be several months before he can return to duty, according to Sergeant Frank Mills of the state highway patrol.

Heart Explodes In Auto Crash Killing Bixman
John W. Bixman fifty with the Mendocino Woodland project died last week when his car overturned south of Russian Gulch. Doctors determined his heart had exploded likely from the excitement after an auto overturn. He had no known relatives and was buried in Ocean View cemetery.

Woodsman dies after woods accident on coast
John Kenneth Hansen, 22, a Union Lumber woods worker, was struck by a choker in the coastal woods Wednesday afternoon and died Thursday morning at Redwood Coast hospital. He was conscious briefly after the injury before passing away within 12 hours. He is survived by his parents Mr and Mrs J B Hansen of Hopland and was visiting Ukiah with family members who had come to meet Milas Sallie Foster touring the Redwood Empire.
