Collapse of Bridge Endangers Two Lives
A bridge near Greenwood collapsed cutting off traffic between Greenwood and the north. L. M. Holliday of Fort Bragg narrowly escaped serious injury when his Dodge roadster plunged 25 to 30 feet into a gulch after seeing the missing span too late. He was treated by Dr. Sweet and later returned home. Conrad Dahl of Manchester nearly went over the bank on the opposite side but stopped in time. A temporary bridge was built by a local crew led by Supervisor Howe, restoring north coast travel by Wednesday evening.

Cutting scrape ends with severe chest wound at Mattern ranch
Herman Mattern rancher was badly cut last Friday evening in a fight with Ben Montgomery on the state highway south of town near the Mattern ranch. A car with C. H. Bihn and others left the ditch. during helping to extricate it a scuffle led to Mattern's wounds including a severed artery. Grand jury investigates. no indictment yet.

Water to be held in escrow awaiting state water commission permit, delivering seven and a half million gallons daily at 4.60 per million.
