Record Breaker Potato Hill Sets Local Irish Potato Standard

M. A. Elliot holds a one hill Irish potato record. He dug 44 potatoes from a single hill in Stahl addition, all large enough to eat, with four weighing 17 pounds. Vines produced 20 potatoes above ground, largest about two and a half inches long. We doubt anyone in the state can beat this.

Calloway Address Marks Montana Judge Nomination

Hon. Lew L. Calloway addressed Madison, Jefferson and Beaverhead delegates at Billings during the Republican state convention to seek the Fifth district judgeship. Whiskey sales to Indians spur Beaverhead complaints

Dillon reports indicate local dealers known as Kentucky hardware are violating state law by selling whiskey to Indians in Beaverhead County. An alcohol fueled brawl near Phillips ranch left an Indian man and woman injured and women at the ranch terrified. Captain J. Eb Purnillips quotes a farm family noting repeated alcohol fueled fights, desecrated property, and calls to shame and humane concerns.

Curious Calcified Growth Seen In Mrs Sweeney Stomach

Mrs. Sweeney of Railroad avenue grew severely ill on Tuesday with coughing and vomiting. Onlookers feared a mysterious “thing” moved, but doctors identified a four inch calcareous formation in the stomach, a rare curiosity that surprised city physicians.

Beaverhead County lists 187 entities paying over $100 in taxes this year, up from 185 last year. Deceased Noble Founder of Whitehall Died in Dillon Area

R N Noble founder of Whitehall Montana died at his home Tuesday evening September 13 after a ten month illness of stomach cancer. He was brother to Mrs Eunice Selway of Dillon Mrs T B Craver of Medicine Lodge and Herbert Noble of Sheridan. Funeral Thursday in Whitehall conducted by Rev George D King of Bozeman who praised his Christian life and civic service. Registered voters in the old Dillon precinct urged to verify placement in new north and south precinct lists prepared by Registry Agent Boone.
