Republicans Name Delegates in Beaverhead County Convention
Beaverhead county Republican delegates gathered at the Dillon courthouse last Saturday afternoon with 59 of 61 eligible delegates present. The convention endorsed Roosevelt Taft era policies, nominated Hazelbaker for district clerk, Gosman for sheriff, Cashmore for treasurer, and Baker for clerk and recorder, amid a large turnout of spectators.

George R Featherly and S S Car ruthers left Dillon for a Idaho sugar beet field inspection tour. They will return next week and share impressions on beets and irrigation guidance from Prof Linfield. The Beaverhead County Fair wrapped its first annual event with large crowds across three days. Premiums and purses totaled near $3,000 with school pupils admitted Friday. The fair showcased floral halls, filled pens, and plans for expanded stalls next year. In Dillon Livingston ball series, Dillon won 7 to 5 in the final clash, tying the overall series 6-6. Races produced multiple purses with horses like Major Defiance and Gabriel's Pride earning top honors along with a list of prizewinners for Percherons and related breeds.

County Commissioners Meet in Beaverhead on September 7 1908
The Beaverhead County Board met in regular session September 7 1908 with C C Gosman chairing and commissioners Orr and Francis present. Bids for Bloody Dick and Blacktail road fencing were rejected or reconsidered. Grading bids for Horse Prairie road were too high and deferred. Road work for Big Hole was ordered under Francis supervision. Deputy treasurer appointment and special deputy sheriff approved. Treasur er to manage warrants and fund transfers. Road supervision limited to essential repairs. Quarterly officer reports approved. Viewers appointed for opening a road from NW sec 16 to intersect Jackson Wisdom road. Adjourned to September 9.

County officials list positions including state senator and representatives and call for filings for clerk of the court, sheriff, treasurer, clerk and recorder, county attorney, assessor, superintendent of schools, county commissioner, surveyor, coroner, and public administrator with deadlines and eligibility rules.
Board redraws precincts extending Glendale to Hecla
The a.m. Board met on adjournment day with all members present and ordered that all election precincts be bounded as in 1906 except Hecla and Glendale. Hecla precinct would be merged into Glendale with voters listed from 1906 Hecla and 1908 registrations. Election judges and voting sites were set for Dillon South, Dillon North, Poindexter, Barretts, Sim Estes, Blacktail, Argenta, Farlin, Birch Creek and related posts and lists.

The Montana Republican state convention in Helena nominated Hon. Edward Donlan of Missoula for governor with 264 votes to 161 for Mantle and 93 for Webster. The platform backs Roosevelt administration, Northern Pacific land grant reclassification, anti campaign contributions by corporations, child labor ban in DC, pure food law, postal savings, and stronger debtors protections. It also calls for navy growth, better mine health safeguards, mine sanitation, public highways, and direct election of US senators.

Shineberger Will Funds Dillon Hospital Plan
Joseph Shineberger's will provides a large sum for a Dillon hospital and leaves his cattle plant to his nephew Edward B. Roe. The plan requires at least 65 000 or 90 000 total funding, with a 50 000 endowment, a 40 000 site and building budget, and a 25 000 initial hospital endowment to be held in trust until augmented. Executors are Wm. Roe of Dillon and Edward B. Roe of Bedrock.
