Montana State Normal College Welcomes New Leader

The Montana State Normal College begins its sixteenth year under President J E Monroe former vice president with a strong faculty and expanded training facilities. The campus includes two 34 room buildings a 8000 volume library a 600 seat auditorium and two dormitories housing 120 women. An ungraded rural training department will be added and Friday was a college holiday to attend the county fair. Attendance rose with men up 100 percent. Arkansas records four Clark sisters wedding service.

Hazelbaker Honored as Beaverhead Welcomes Republican Secretary Nominee

A large turnout greeted Frank A. Hazelbaker at Beav erhead depot with a festive reception at the Metlen hotel. Supporters praised the forthcoming Montana secretary of state nominee as a unifying, reforming figure. The Great Falls convention is hailed as proving the party’s vetted slate and Hazelbaker’s acclamation.

Mutual Scare After Burglar Breaks In

A burglar entered A. F. Graeter's home and fled when chased with a gun. He crashed into stair ballasts, knocking them from their mountings, and likely disappeared beyond the nearest mountain, in a mutual scare rather than a capture.

Unusual Dillon Entertainment Series Opens October 8

The Normal College in Dillon announces seven performances for its entertainment course replacing lectures this year. Bergen-Marx Concert company, John Gunckel, Emily Waterman, Opie Read, DeKoven Male quartette, Gamble Concert company, and Ralph Bingham are scheduled. Season tickets at 3.50 go on sale Monday at Yearlan’s or from E. R. Mosher.

Beaverhead County Fair Opens to Good Attendance and Exhibits

The Beaverhead County Fair opened with favorable weather and strong attendance. Aviator Maroney performed two flights to widespread acclaim while a Helena beat Dillon 5 to 2 in a ball game. Livestock, crops, crafts, and a large mineral and culinary display filled the halls, with a notable 1500-strong crowd on opening day. An accident paused a motorcycle race as racers prepared for a five-mile event.
