Esther Hawkins aged 12, daughter of Mr and Mrs Tom Hawkins of Butte, died at home after a short illness. Born in Dillon she left three sisters and a brother and both parents. Hawkins formerly worked at the Dillon Tribune shop. Cecil Perry, now Mrs Charles Perry of Boulder, is her mother. Sam Bell and wife attended the funeral at Immaculate Conception Church in Butte on Wednesday.

Fire destroys J. I. Tun Saker ranch buildings north of Dillon
A Tuesday blaze at the J. I. Tun Saker ranch north of Dillon consumed the barn granary machine sheds and outbuildings with a loss estimated at 6000 partly covered by insurance. Sprung from sparks from a threshing engine it spread rapidly preventing saving machinery and seed grain. The house survived though the rest of the ranch was practically burned.

Alleged crooks arrested after failed short change gag
Ray Watkins and Jack Rose were arrested Thursday evening and booked on a misdemeanor charge. They allegedly tried a short change gag on local merchants, entered not guilty pleas before Justice Phillips the same night, and were held on $200 bonds which they could not post.
