Funeral services for Mrs. Sarah Evans Kirk of Kenosha Wisconsin were conducted at Hassen funeral home with Rev. E Burns Martin officiating. Interment followed in Green Ridge cemetery. Born January 18 1869 in Shrewsbury England she came to America at 13 and later settled in the community before moving to Montana and returning to Kenosha. She is survived by her husband Edward W Kirk two sons John and Raymond seven siblings in England Wisconsin and Illinois.
A community celebration at the Nelson school north of Dillon marked the presentation of the superior plate the highest rating a rural school can receive. The program included music dancing and readings with Misses Helen Taylor Helen Hoff man Burl Scully Martha Opp and Esther Reed performing. Refreshments followed and guests danced the rest of the evening. Credit for the achievement goes to Miss Genevieve O Leary the teacher and the cooperative efforts of the pupils.
Beaverhead Alberta Oil & Gas Co reports drilling near Dillon progressing rapidly with more than 300 feet reached. Operators hope to reach oil sands by Christmas, near the site of an earlier hole where oil sands were found at about 1,740 feet. Water inflow had hindered the prior attempt, now being controlled by casing.
A Sunday evening fire near seven o clock at the Baptist church was stopped quickly by local volunteers.
