Beaverhead post forms a service men welfare committee to run an employment bureau for veterans and assist disabled ex soldiers via three channels. Funeral in Dillon for Chester Hanson draws Centennial visitors

A large crowd from the Centennial valley attended the Dillon funeral of Chester Hanson on Wednesday. Among relatives and locals present were J. A. Jones and family, Jeff Jones and family, Ben Hart and family, Matt Reece and family, and Mrs. William Miller.

Young Man Dies After Long Illness In Butte

Chester Merriweather Hanson died at Murray hospital Butte on October 18 at age 16 years 10 months 9 days from streptococcic septicemia. He had been ill since May and was hospitalized June 2. Funeral held in Dillon at Methodist church with Rev. T. W. Bennett officiating and interment at Mountain View cemetery. He leaves parents Fred I Hanson and Lou Emma Jones Hanson and siblings.

Elkhorn Hot Springs Highway Is Finished

H. Ketchum forestry engineer led a two month project at Elkhorn hot springs building two miles of sixteen foot wide highway from the forest boundary near Polaris to the hot springs. A crew of twenty five men and fifteen teams completed the road at an approximate cost of ten thousand dollars. Forest Supervisor Somers and Ketchum plan to survey another forestry service highway from Wise River to Wisdom to connect the Elkhorn mining district with the railroad under construction. Ketchum noted modern cottages near Elkhorn springs and said they contrast with the new road.

Greek Letter Chapter to be Installed at Bozeman

College fraternity men at Montana State College Bozeman plan the installation of a Sigma Alpha Epsilon chapter, the first in the state. The ceremony will be led by Eminent Supreme Recorder William C. Levere of Evanston Illinois.

Butte Central to Face Beaverhead High in Title Clash

Butte Central High meets Beaverhead High tomorrow for the second game of the season in Butte. The opener ended 20 to 0 in favor of the Butte aggregation. Dilton fans expect a closely contested tilt after last week’s scrimmage and a lone touchdown by the visiting team.

Beav erhead County to Host Nineteen Census Districts

Missoula Oct 20 Beaverhead county will have nineteen enumeration districts for the 1920 Fourteenth Decennial census. James W Faulds supervisor of the First Montana district says districts will be carved from within the county with work starting January 2 and finished in thirty days except towns over 2600 in 1910 where two weeks suffice. Enumerators to be chosen soon. age limits 18 to 70. Schedules cover population and detailed traits for individuals and farms including birthplace nationality occupation literacy schooling and farm assets.

Will Conduct Sheep Ranch in the Imperial Valley

Robert Waddell, a former Selway Sheep company associate and Oregon Agricultural College graduate, heads to California to ranch in the Imperial Valley. He departs Dillon after a farewell dinner at the Andrus hotel, while guiding a trainload of sheep to winter in the West.

Death of Mrs Henry Thompson Shocks Dilllon County

Mrs Henry Thompson died suddenly from apoplexy at the Kidd ranch last Friday night. She was born in Ireland almost 60 years ago and came to America as a girl. Survived by her husband, sheepman Henry Thompson, and by friends across the county. Funeral services were held at the family home, then Lima for a double service with Mrs Barney Hammond. Fathers Foley and Clifford officiated, interment in Lima Cemetery.

Billings Pleads Guilty Then Placed on Parole

Bird Billings, worker on the Pahnish ranch in the Grays hopper, admitted burglary of the George Gray road house at Millpoint last spring. He stole a gun 135 dollars in cash and 250 dollars in checks. Arraigned in district court before Judge Jos C. Smith he pled guilty and was sentenced to one to three years but placed on parole due to extenuating circumstances.
