Beaverhead post announces Armistice day ceremonies led by D W Paddock with a county wide ex service rally. A parade and patriotic program in the morning, a football game and pageant in the afternoon, a banquet for veterans and a public dance in the evening. Montana highway contractors employ mainly Montana citizens. Chief engineer R. D. Rader reports 98.89 percent of 2,545 workers on state projects are Montana men as of September 30, with 41 from outside the state and 2,504 locals. Meat Market Robbery Investigated by Wisdon Sheriff
Sheriff W C Orr and Undersheriff Barry investigated a Monday robbery at a Wisdom meat market. A small amount of cash and some merchandise were taken. No arrests were made. The market is run by J A Millecam.

Brother-turned-suspect in Madison county murder
Andrew Ziegler, 68, died after being shot at the Ambrose Ziegler ranch on the Big Hole river. Ambrose Ziegler, 65, was jailed on first degree murder charges, claiming innocence and saying he was in the barn during the shooting. The case centers on a mysterious slaying with an .88 caliber revolver found in the yard and four empty shells in the gun.

Pioneer Henry Hackett of Dillon Dies After Long Illness
Henry Hackett, a Beaverhead County resident for over 50 years, died after several years of illness. Born February 4, 1851 in Nebraska, he traveled to mining camps, later moved to Dillon, worked in the terminal town, served on the city police force, and was known as an expert pistol shot. Surviving sisters are Mary York of Anaconda and L. E. H. Culver of Centennial Valley. Funeral in Brundage chapel Friday at 2 p.m. with Rev. R. C. Shannon officiating. burial at Mountain View Cemetery.

Deer hunting reports incomplete as season opens
Local hunters ventured into the mountain wilderness on Saturday morning seeking the elusive deer. On their return the report of success was bunk and few among them claimed any catch as open season begins.
Beaverhead Red Cross drive short of quota
Beaverhead county has only about 200 dollars of its 650 dollar Red Cross quota raised to date exclusive of outside districts. Chairman E W Bond reports the local committee faces a difficult balance to raise. A business section canvass is pending with a drive to be organized immediately. Half the quota goes to local relief, the rest to national headquarters as the county expects flour and clothing from the Red Cross this winter.

Hazelbaker Nears Victory After Montana Swing
Lieutenant Governor Hazelbaker republican nominee for governor returns from a long campaign tour across Montana. He will stay in Dillon briefly then continue a circle swing. Hecla Mining Man Perishes Trapped Below Glendale
Alex McDonell a veteran Hecla mine worker near Glendale died in an apparent shaft incident. His body was recovered Saturday by fellow miners after smoke from a nearby building. A Nova Scotia native 68, he lived in Montana since 1888 and leaves a Santa Monica widow and eight children. Funeral plans await relatives.

Lumber theft arrest nets Hagen in county jail
